This is how you know it's time to professionalize your marketing software
You don't choose marketing software and a digital asset management system lightly. The impact is far too great for that. And once you've chosen, it's not easy to switch. But sometimes that might be smarter anyway. In this blog, we share five symptoms that tell you it's time to professionalize.
1 You can't find the right content
Whether you're working with a wood-powered system on your server, a smart system in the cloud developed by your own IT department, or a specially purchased marketing software package, you may find that your current way of working requires you to search endlessly for the right files and images. In that case, a taxonomy or metadata structure that suits your organization has clearly not been well thought out.
2 The right content is not there (or not where it needs to be)
If you can't find something, it could also mean that it simply isn't there. If users are not completely satisfied with the marketing software package, chances are they are storing their files and images on their own hard drive or a local network drive the old-fashioned way again. That way, of course, you'll never find what you're looking for. Annoying, but your employees are sending an important message with this: they are not satisfied with the current system.
3 In practice, you are more traffic manager than marketer
If creating a simple expression that you have already created multiple times involves enormous "hassle" every time, that is also a sign of things to come. Constantly briefing external or internal parties, looking for the right artwork and rigging the entire design from start to finish is far from efficient. Constantly checking that your communications are consistent across all your channels doesn't really help either. If you can work template-driven and have your corporate identity, your brand philosophy, your branding and all other elements together in a brand portal, you keep time to focus on the more creative things and become a marketer again instead of a traffic manager.
4 You keep running into limitations
Some systems are very rigid. Every time you want more storage or add a user, you have to call. Whether that's to your own IT department or to your external vendor, either way it's not flexible. If you switch to a modern system, you'll be much more scalable and keep full control over the management of your system.
5 You are being punished for your own success
The world is changing so fast, it requires strength. If your marketing software has limitations when it comes to numbers of users, it does not help your strength. If your company grows from ten to a hundred users, that's cause for celebration. If your system cannot then handle the growing number of users, that pretty much detracts from that celebration.
