Custom software or a standard solution for marketing automation, it's always a dilemma. If I have learned anything after nearly two decades in the world of Marketing Automation, it is that no customer and no business process is the same. Sure, content structures are broadly similar, but there are always nuances present. It makes just the difference if you can respond to that with your DAM system. Our solution is not one hundred percent flexible either, but we certainly don't offer a rigid standard solution. Jeanne Haket, owner of Frontline Communications, put it very nicely in her blog: 'Comrads' solution offers the best of both worlds: a standard solution with room for customer-specific configurations. Get rid of the folder structure

That doesn't mean, by the way, that we just go along with everything. We also think critically with our clients. Sometimes we have reasons to say: you really shouldn't want this. We have learned from our best - and worst - practices and know very well what works and what doesn't work. For example, we no longer work with so-called directory structures; I wrote a blog about that earlier. By working with keywords and tags, you can apply a similar structure, but the result is a lot smarter and future-proof.

A Volkswagen does not become a Ferrari

We think with our clients before they even start. With simple workshops, we immerse ourselves in the organization. This does not require years of consultancy. We look at how an organization is structured - is it product-oriented, for example, or branch-oriented - and we translate that into tangible examples based on our use cases and successes. In that sense, you can compare our DAM system to a car configurator. You can configure your car all by yourself, but if you've chosen a Volkswagen, of course you don't drive out the door in a Ferrari. I also sometimes jokingly say, "We rent out unfurnished, but with the furniture you like. An apartment does not become a villa, but you can make it your home. Yes, a standard solution with room for your configurations, that's exactly what we offer. As an organization, you have to invest time in that yourself, but that means that when you start, you are working with a system that breathes and exudes your organization. After all, successfully implementing technology is still a matter of good cooperation. People work, in other words.
